‘Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’ drops on September 26th
Summer Game Fest is attracting big names from Hollywood as Nicolas Cage made an appearance during the opening keynote to talk about his involvement in Dead by Daylight, and Keanu Reeves presented the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty at the Xbox Games Showcase.
Reeves reprises his role as Johnny Silverhand in the expansion, which features another big name in the form of Idris Elba. Phantom Liberty sees Johnny and V on a “dangerous spy mission,” Reeves said, with Elba as an undercover agent. The expansion takes you to Dogtown, a new area in Night City, where your mission is to rescue the President of the United States of New America. “Expect a huge expansion. Twists, secrets and lots to do,” Reeves added.
The trailer features a new character’s voice saying that they know about the ticking time bomb in V’s head (no spoilers for those who haven’t played the main game) and that they can save the main character’s life. It seems that the price of salvation is the removal of the commander-in-chief.
Phantom Liberty is shaping up to be a fascinating continuation of Cyberpunk 2077’s story. Here’s hoping that the debut of the expansion goes much more smoothly than the debut of the original game. We’ll find out when Phantom Liberty drops on September 26th. However, it’s worth noting that the DLC isn’t available for PS4 or Xbox One.
